hydraulic element

How about the hydraulic system? It might sound fancy, but it’s actually a very important part of many machines that use liquids to assist them in working. There are various components in the hydraulic system that perform specific functions and work together. Hydraulic components, if you think of them, are like a team, every member has their own role, and they need to collaborate with other members to verify that it all works.

The cylinder, a vital component of a hydraulic mechanism A cylinder is a long tube with a piston inside. The piston moves when liquid is pushed into the cylinder which fills the cylinder space. It is this movement that is action in the machine. Consider it as a balloon, by blowing air into the balloon, the balloon becomes large and great enough to move something. Without the cylinder a hydraulic element would be unable to function at all!

The Function of a Hydraulic Element in Different Applications

The pump is another main component of a hydraulic drive system. This section is in charge of pumping the liquid throughout the entire system. You may imagine the pump being a heart that pumps blood in your body. Just as your heart pumps blood around your body, providing the main fluid flow to your organs, the pump moves liquid around the system and also ensures the hydraulic element operates properly. The pump is the important part, because if the liquid doesn't move, nothing happens!

Brakes are a classic example of how hydraulic elements function. Ex. When you press the brake pedal in a car, it pumps liquid through a hydraulic system. The system squeezes the brake pads against the car’s wheels; this slows the car down safely. That’s where keeping your brake fluid topped up comes in: if the fluid is low, the brakes won’t work properly, and the consequences can be serious!
